Learn how to connect your osu! client to our server

This guide will walk you through the process of connecting your osu! client to osuspeedrun.
Follow these steps carefully to get started.
Before You Start
- ✓ Make sure you have osu! installed on your computer
- ✓ Create an account on our website first
- ✓ Have your osu! installation folder location ready
Find Your osu! Shortcut
Locate your osu! desktop shortcut.
If you don't have one, you can find it from the Start Menu.
Follow these steps:
- Open Start Menu and search for "osu!"
- Right-click on "osu!" → "Open file location"
- Copy the shortcut to your desktop
Create a New Shortcut for Our Server
Right-click the osu! shortcut → Properties.
In the Target field, add the server argument at the end:
Original Target:
"C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Local\osu!\osu!.exe"New Target:
"C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Local\osu!\osu!.exe" -devserver osuspeed.run💡 Tip: You can rename the shortcut to "osuspeedrun" to easily distinguish it from the official osu! shortcut.
Launch osu! Using the New Shortcut
Double-click your new shortcut to launch osu! connected to osuspeedrun.
⚠️ Important: Always use this shortcut when you want to play on osuspeedrun. Using the regular osu! shortcut will connect to the official servers.
Login to Your Account
When osu! opens, log in with your osuspeedrun account credentials that you created on our website.
⚠️ Important: Use the username and password you created on our website, not your official osu! account credentials!
Troubleshooting
I can't connect to the server
Make sure you've followed all the steps correctly. Check that:
- You added the
-devserverargument correctly in the shortcut properties - The server address is correct and matches our server Address
- Your firewall isn't blocking the connection
- You're using the modified shortcut, not the original osu! shortcut
Login credentials aren't working
Remember to use your osuspeedrun account credentials, not your official osu! account. If you haven't created an account yet, please register on our website first.
How do I switch back to official servers?
Simply use your original osu! shortcut without the -devserver argument. You can have both shortcuts on your desktop for easy switching!
